The German tuning company TechTec has announced a 450-horsepower upgrade
package for the new 1 M that will enable the Bavarian coupe to accelerate from 0 to 60
mph in just 4 seconds. Top speed is expected to be over 186 mph (300 km/h).
The upgrade can be done in stages. The first two stages can be done right
now, the third and most extreme stage is supposed to be ready sometime later
this year.
For $2100 (1500 EUR), TechTec upgrades the standard 1 M with 340 hp and 332
lb-ft (450 Nm) to 380 hp and 428 lb-ft (580 Nm).
$3500 (2500 EUR) would
be good for 400 horsepower. At this stage, TechTec also advises the customer to purchase a
bigger intercooler for $1120 (800 EUR).
As we have said, TechTec promises
to have the most extreme option ready later this year, raising the performance
level considerably, to 450 horsepower and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm). The pricing for
this option will be known then.
TechTec also sells KW club sport
suspensions ($3400 or 2400 EUR) and Akrapovic titanium exhaust systems for the
new 1 Series M Coupe.
