Audi Eyes Towards the Future With More Efficient Engines For the 2011 Q7

(continued from the previous page)

Powerful and Efficient Engines

The 2011 Audi Q7 quattro is available with two all-new supercharged V6 engines, both of which are faster and more fuel efficient than their predecessors.

With its more clearly defined powerplant direction, the 2011 Audi Q7 quattro gives buyers the choices they need for ever more active lifestyles. Heading up the new lineup is a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine producing 272 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque - a significant 29 lb-ft boost over the previous Q7. Despite the large increase in torque, the new Audi Q7 quattro will achieve 16/22 mpg (city/hwy), an improvement of 2 mpg in city driving and 3 mpg in highway driving. Buyers looking for even more performance can opt for the more powerful 333 hp supercharged 3.0 TFSI V6 found in the 2011 Audi Q7 quattro S line Prestige. This proven performer generates 325 lb-ft of torque, ensuring that no load is too heavy and catapulting the large SUV to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds. Even with the added power, the new engine is some 16 percent more efficient than the 4.2-liter FSI V8 that it replaces. In addition, the efficient new Audi Q7 quattro costs approximately $2,100 less than its predecessor.

The Audi Q7 quattro provides premium SUV buyers with a new level of environmental conscientiousness with its efficient 3.0 TDI clean diesel engine. Using a combination of directinjection and turbocharging, the 3.0-liter diesel engine delivers 225 hp and a remarkable 406 lb-ft of torque. Yet as impressive as the power figures are, the truly amazing aspect of the Q7 3.0 TDI quattro clean diesel is its fuel economy. The Q7 3.0 TDI clean diesel delivers 17/25 mpg (city/hwy) and is the only clean diesel in its segment with an eight-speed transmission.

8-Speed Tiptronic Transmission

Matched with each of the engines available in the Audi Q7 quattro is an all-new state-of-the-art eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. It offers motorists the perfect compromise between a legitimate manual and an automatic gearbox, with eight carefully chosen ratios that can be credited for five percent of the increased fuel efficiency of the new Audi Q7 quattro.

The driver may choose gears via the console-mounted shifter or optional paddle shifters located behind the sculpted steering wheel. Shifts are quick and precise without sacrificing the smooth action of the Tiptronic automatic. A wide final drive ratio of 7.25:1 allows the lower gears to be optimized for instant, powerful acceleration, while the gears in the upper range have an emphasis on fuel economy - particularly at highway speeds.

Options and Packages

The 2011 Audi Q7 quattro is available in several packages; the 3.0T Premium and Premium Plus, the 3.0T S line Prestige, and the 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. All packages come equipped with a precise eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and quattro.

Instead, the fob merely needs to be in the driver's pocket. Audi MMI Navigation plus also is standard.

The available Audi MMI Navigation plus features a 7-inch full-color LCD screen and MMI control logic.
