The German tuning company B&B has developed several engine upgrades for the
2012 Beetle, ranging up to 316 hp.
The upgrades are available for the 2.0 TFSI and 1.4 TSI engines. The
top-of-the-range 2.0-liter, which in standard specification produces 200 hp and
207 lb-ft (280 Nm), has an increased power output in five stages:
* 236 hp and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque
* 247 hp
* 261 hp
* 291 hp
* 316 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque
The stage 5 upgrade includes a B&B turbocharger, charge air cooler and full
sport exhaust including downpipe and sport catalytic converter, which is enough
to propel the Beetle from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of
155 mph (250 km/h). The price of this package is 8,950 EUR, or $11,600.
Other upgrades available include a high performance brake system for 3,795 EUR and
19 to 20-inch wheels.
