The Ferrari Enzo was competing in a stage of the 1,300-mile Targa Newfoundland
rally race in Canada yesterday when the driver lost control, sending the car
backwards off a ledge and into the ocean below. The passengers quickly exited,
but the car apparently was picked up by the tide and floated for a bit before
being towed onshore.
The owner/driver of the rare Ferrari is a Canadian
exotic car dealer Zahir Rana of ZR Auto. A guy named Roland Linder was
navigating. Both were unhurt in the accident and the car was reported to be
"just a little waterlogged" with a cracked headlight and a few other minor
issues.
It was very fortunate that the camera was positioned in a perfect
spot to pick up all the "action". The video has been shot by Patrick Weir from
Calum's Day Productions while the photos are from Mike Boldt and Gordon Sleig.
Worth an estimated $1.5 million, the road-legal Ferrari Enzo by
Edo Performance produces 840 hp and can run to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds with a
top speed of over 240 mph.
