The fastest, lightest and most powerful car in the Maserati model line-up
makes its Chinese debut at the Shanghai Motor Show today. The introduction of
the MC Stradale to the Chinese market so soon after its global launch is
indicative of China's growing importance to the Modena-based Italian company.
"The numbers of the first quarter of 2011 are self-explanatory," Harald Wester, CEO
of Maserati, said.
"Deliveries to customers between January and March
2011 doubled to 142 cars compared to 71 in the same period in 2010. Thanks to
this result, the Chinese market, which was in fourth place among the worldwide
markets for Maserati in 2010, is now second only to the U.S."
The
Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale generates 450 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of
torque from its 4.7-liter V8 engine. Its race-bred heritage is highlighted by a
weight reduction down to 3902 lbs.
