In a somewhat amusing accident, Formula 1 driver Sebastien Buemi
unintentionally gave wings to an unlucky marshall in a Red Bull demonstration
event in Japan at the weekend.
The man sprinted across the course right
in front of Buemi,
jumped in the air before the impact, but was still bumped by the Red Bull F1
showcar. The concerned Buemi immediately stopped but the marshal got
up unharmed.
"I am extremely
happy to be able to visit Japan and give wings to the Japanese people," Buemi said,
before his words took on a more literal meaning than he intended.
Toro Rosso driver Buemi had been driving the Red Bull
demonstration car at Makuhari's Big Beach Music Festival as part of a
fundraising push for the Japan earthquake relief fund, and also demonstrated the
car through Yokohama Motomachi Shopping Street on Sunday.
