Spada Codatronca Monza one-off sports car has been unveiled in Italy. The car
has been designed by Paolo, Ercole Spada and Domiziano Boschi of Spadaconcept
and built by Spadavetturesport. This special vehicle has been ordered by a
company called Aznom, which apparently deals with "the world of luxury" and is a
corporate partner of Spadavetturesport. Aznom wanted a special, Moza-dedicated
car for their corporate events and to "strengthen the connection between the
world of car design and luxury".
The one-off Spada Codatronca Monza is
based on the 2008 Codatronca coupe but has more extreme characteristics: its
design and racing interior bring back memory of the 1960s spyders.
Aznom
chose Monza because of its strong attachment with the city that houses its
historic venue and the famous track Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
Codatronca
Monza will only be a one-off vehicle, but Spadaconcept will produce a spyder (barchetta)
version of the Codatronca on demand.
Codatronca Monza has a tubular
chassis made of aluminum that has been coated with a carbon-fiber and composite
body. The engine is a 7-liter V8 and has been developed by Italtecnica. Two
rotrex centrifugal superchargers help deliver an incredible 720 hp and over 700
lb-ft (950 Nm) of torque.
The car is able to reach 60 mph from standing
start in only 2.9 seconds (in first gear). Top speed is 208 mph (335 km/h).
The weight of the car is only 2600 lbs (1,180 kg). In part, the low weight
is due to the lightweight racing interior with Sabelt seats and the Aim steering
wheel that integrates the instrumentations with data acquisition (can, GPS). The
on-board camera Aim Smartycam records HD videos with the overlay of the
telemetry and data captured by the steering wheel.
The technical package
is completed with the performance Pirelli PZero Corsa tires mounted on
lightweight OZ Ultra-leggera wheels. The brakes and fully adjustable suspension
system had been derived from the systems used in the FIA GT3 race cars.
