(continued)
Two extended-wheelbase models continue – the Executive L (fleet only) and
Signature L. In addition to their 6-inch stretch in wheelbase, L models offer
rear-seat amenities including a folding armrest with tissue and storage bins, as
well as dual power points and remote audio, climate and right front passenger
seat controls. The Signature L model includes heated rear seats.
Pewter Clearcoat Metallic, Dark Cherry Clearcoat Metallic and two new two-tone
combinations join the exterior palette for 2006. Inside, Medium Light Camel
replaces the Light Parchment theme.
Powertrain and Chassis
A 239-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 is standard on Town Car. The engine is mated to a
four-speed automatic transmission.
Town Car puts power to the ground through its rear wheels via a 3.27:1 final
drive ratio. All-speed traction control is standard and helps improve traction
during inclement weather.
Improved in 2003, the robust chassis is favored by commercial customers for its
durability and comfortable ride.
Safety and Security
The Lincoln Town Car was the first car in history to receive five-star
government safety ratings in all five categories – and has done so three years
in a row. Town Car is equipped with Ford’s Personal Safety System, which is one
of the most comprehensive driver and front-seat passenger restraint systems
available. It includes dual-stage air bags and safety belts with pretensioners
and energy management retractors. Town Car continues to feature BeltMinder,
which chimes to remind the driver to buckle up.
